Transgender individuals are extremely at risk for physical and sexual violence anywhere they go - on the streets, in their workplaces, in their schools, and even in their homes. 1 in every 4 transgender individuals have experienced assault due to transphobia. The risk is significantly higher for trans women and trans people of color. In 2017, 28 transgender individuals were murdered - the most ever recorded. Nobody should ever have to fear for their life just for expressing their gender identity.
